After long deliberation by the Zamfara State House of Assembly, the house
have listed six impeachable offences committed by the Gov. Abdulaziz Yari.

The governor is being accused of misappropriating billions
of naira made for the state development, in statement by the Chairman of the Assembly’s Committee on information Mannir Gidan –Jaja in Guau today.
The money he was accused of misappropriating include: the corrupt abuse of local government funds, N11 billion bailout fund, and N1 billion agricultural loan released by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),and also failure to remit funds deducted for pensions and gratuities to pension fund administrators as provided by the state law.
Yari was also accused of frequent foreign trips that add no value to the development of Zanfara state, and instead imposing financial burden on the state.
In the statement the governor had also ignored a resolution of the assembly not to appoint Murtala Jangebe as Chairman of the state Universal Basic Education Board, after passing vote of no confidence, against Jangebe for allegedly misappropriating over N1 billion belonging to the board in 2014.
The state assembly also condemned the arrest of the speaker, his Deputy, Majority whip and others by Department of State Services, DSS. They said “We are also demanding the unconditional release of our principal officers who are currently under detention with the DSS in Abuja.” (NAN)
They further warn against the continuous interference on legislative functions by the DSS, and on the constitutional matters of the state.
According to the statement they urged President Muhammadu Buhari to caution the DSS against further interference in the matter.
